School - Parent Compact

What is the School-Parent Compact?

Middle School is a defining point for students in the college and careerreadiness process. When the school community, parents and studentsagree to work together; this defining point becomes an easier process forstudents and parents to manage.

Our annual school-parent compact offers ways that we can work together to help our students succeed. This compact provides strategies to helpconnect learning at school and home.

  • Describes opportunities for parents to attend meetings, events andvolunteer

The faculty and staff of Bunche MS have agreed upon and committed to the following:  

  • We will provide hands on activities and project-based learning in Mathematics that promote conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.  
  • We will facilitate instruction that integrates technology using apps, promethean active panels, Google classroom tools and mathematics tutorial software.  
  • We will allow students the opportunity to explore math in real world context and collaborate with their peers through problem solving and critical thinking activities.
  • We will prepare students to meet 21st century literacy demands.  
  • We will engage students in the C4 classroom challenge to collaborate, communicate, think critically and create.  
  • We will integrate writing skills into all content areas focus on Analytic Writing.

As an IB school, we will continue to be lifelong learners, global thinkers, contributing members of a global society.

Fostering Parent Partnerships

Parent partnerships are vital to our school’s culture. Bunche MS builds partnerships between the home and school by educating teachers, pupil services personnel, administration and other staff by gathering input from our parents on how to reach out to, communicate with, and collaborate with parents as equal educational partners.

We invite our families to connect with us at scheduled parent academic events, activities and workshops.

Jointly Developed

The parents, staff and students at Bunche Middle School worked together and shared ideas to develop the School-Parent Compact, in agreement and collaboration for the goal of academic and student success. Our School-Parent is reviewed and updated annually based on parent input. We value this input and our parents are welcome to share with us at any time. All feedback will be collected and reviewed during the annual spring revision meting with parents. 

Student Academic Agreement

As a student I commit to the following so that I will succeed academically:

  • I will apply critical thinking skills to understand math concepts.
  • I will engage in technology that will utilize 21st century literacy demands.
  • I will engage in homework that will help me think critically and create.
  • I will focus on skills that help me to write, listen, and speak using what I have learned in all content areas.

Parent Academic Agreement

As a parent/guardian I promise to do the following so that my child will succeed academically:

  • I will ensure that my child completes homework that is conceptual with understanding critical thinking skills.
  • I will be more engaged in the education of my child so that C4 challenge to collaborate, communicate, think critically, and create will be a part of learning.
  • I will encourage my student to use technology to enhance 21st century learning.

Parent Resource Center

Bunche Middle School is open and equipped with valuable academic resources and materials that will help parents assist their children at home.
